|---|---|---|---|
| M1 | 100,000 (latest) | Most recent months | Scalping research, execution timing |
| M5 / M15 | 100,000 each | 2022 – Oct 2026 (M15) | Intraday strategies, session studies |
| M30 | ~80,000 | Jul 2019 – Oct 2026 | Swing systems, ML feature engineering |
| H1 / H4 | ~41,000 / ~11,000 | Jul 2019 – Oct 2026 | EA backtesting, regime studies |
| D1 | ~2,200 | Jul 2019 – Oct 2026 | Daily models, weekday seasonality |

The M1, M5 and M15 files contain the most recent 100,000 candles — exactly what a MetaTrader 5 terminal holds by default. M30 and above carry the full downloaded broker history since July 2019, including the 2020 crash, the 2022 bear market and the 2024–2026 expansion.
How to Use Index Historical Data
- Download the ZIP for your index and extract the nine CSV files.
- MT5 backtesting: import the CSVs via the Strategy Tester symbol settings or rebuild history in the terminal — use the same broker symbol (US500, SPX500, NAS100, GER40 names vary).
- Python / ML: load with
pandas.read_csv(), parse Timestamp, sort ascending and build features (returns, range, session flags, volatility). - Validate first: check for duplicate timestamps, OHLC inconsistencies and session gaps before trusting any backtest result.
- Match your broker: symbol suffixes differ (US500m, US500.a, SPX500). Rename the symbol column to match your MT5 symbol exactly.
Indices Historical Data — FAQ
Is the index historical data really free?
Yes. Every index dataset on this page is a direct ZIP download with no registration, no email and no paywall.
Which global indices are available?
US500 (S&P 500), US30 (Dow Jones), USTEC (Nasdaq 100), UK100 (FTSE 100), JP225 (Nikkei 225), AUS200 (S&P/ASX 200) and STOXX50 (Euro Stoxx 50).
What is the difference between M30+ history and M1?
M30 and higher timeframes go back to July 2019. M1, M5 and M15 contain the latest 100,000 candles each — the MetaTrader 5 terminal limit — so M1 starts a few months back and M15 starts in 2022.
Can I use this data for MT5 backtesting and Python?
Yes. The CSV columns (Timestamp, Open, High, Low, Close, TickVolume, Spread) import into MT5 and load directly in pandas, Excel, R and ML pipelines such as LSTM, XGBoost and Random Forest.
Need Custom Index Data or an EA Built on It?
We prepare custom datasets — other indices (GER40, HK50, FRA40, DXY, VIX), longer M1 history, broker-specific exports, tick-level data — and develop MT5 Expert Advisors tested directly on these files.
