Spot, perpetual and cross-market research

Crypto Trading Prompts for Bitcoin, Ethereum and Altcoins

Crypto data is fragmented across exchanges and contract types. A useful prompt names the venue, quote currency, spot or derivative instrument, funding source and timestamp before asking for market structure or sentiment.

24/7 markets require continuous timestamp and venue control

Crypto-specific prompt controls

BTCUSD on one venue is not automatically the same dataset or contract as BTCUSDT perpetual on another.

Venue and contract

Specify exchange, symbol, spot or perpetual, collateral type, quote currency and mark versus last price.

Derivative state

Date funding, open interest, basis and liquidation data. Do not combine metrics from incompatible exchanges without normalization.

Liquidity reality

Include spread, depth proxy, volume source and weekend conditions. Report how execution assumptions change during stress.

Narrative verification

Distinguish official protocol, exchange or filing sources from social sentiment. Popular posts are not independent confirmation.

Chart analysis must match the exchange

A support level visible on one exchange may differ on another because liquidity, product and historical data vary. Label every screenshot and avoid merging precise price levels from separate venues.

Because crypto trades continuously, define candle boundaries and timezone. A daily candle based on UTC may not match a chart configured to a local or exchange timezone.

  • Name the exchange in every chart label.
  • State spot, perpetual or dated future.
  • Use mark price for liquidation-related research.
  • Check weekend and maintenance conditions.

On-chain and sentiment data need provenance

On-chain metrics depend on entity labeling, methodology and chain coverage. Social sentiment can be useful as a measured feature, but it should not be presented as objective positioning or causal evidence.

Ask the model to cite the metric provider, observation time and definition. When sources disagree, report the difference instead of averaging incompatible figures.

  • Trace token-supply claims to protocol or reputable data sources.
  • Separate exchange flow from wallet transfers with unknown ownership.
  • Do not infer whales from one large address movement.
  • Record data revisions and provider methodology.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the same prompt for BTC and altcoins?

The evidence framework can be shared, but liquidity, venue concentration, token supply, event risk and derivative availability differ. Generate a new instrument-specific prompt.

Can an LLM see live funding and open interest?

Only if a current data or web tool is connected and the source provides those metrics. Otherwise supply the values and timestamp directly.

Why does the exchange matter for chart analysis?

Exchanges can have different liquidity, candles, wicks, product mechanics and maintenance events. Precise levels must be tied to the chart venue.
