Honest Limits

EA Builder Limitations

A builder is excellent for repeatable rule-based EAs. It is not a substitute for every custom trading system.

Where builders stop

  • Complex multi-symbol portfolio allocation.
  • Custom machine-learning pipelines.
  • External APIs and non-standard data feeds.
  • Advanced order state machines and partial-fill logic.
  • Custom licensing, reporting and prop-firm integrations.
  • Strategies that cannot be expressed as explicit indicator rules.

When the builder is enough

If your strategy is “enter when indicator X crosses Y, filter by spread/session, exit at SL/TP/trailing, risk a fixed percentage”, the builder is likely enough. Prototype it, compile it and test it.

When to hire a developer

Hire when the edge depends on custom architecture, execution logic, data infrastructure or risk systems that the builder cannot represent. Use the MT5 development service or MT4 development service.

Builder Limits FAQ

Can I extend generated code later?

Yes. It is editable source code.

Is hiring a developer always better?

No. For simple rules, the builder is faster and cheaper.

Can the builder handle prop-firm rules?

It supports common risk controls, but you must verify the exact firm rules.
